SPOKANE< Wash. -The Gonzaga University men's tennis team opened the fall season Friday at the Whitworth Fall Classic hosted by nearby Whitworth College.

The Bulldogs had two players in singles action and both picked up wins.

Juniors Reid Arthur and Robert Penney each picked up wins in the first round of singles action as Arthur won his opening match 7-5, 6-0 and Penney defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

The remainder of Gonzaga's men's tennis players will continue play at the Whitworth Classic on Saturday as the Zags will be involved in seven singles matches and four doubles matches. The singles matches are set to begin at 9 a.m.
