Bulldogs Conclude Play at GU/EWU Tournament

CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Gonzaga/Eastern Washington University Tournament on Friday afternoon with Logan Napolsky advancing to the championship round of the singles backdraw.

In the third flight, Napolsky was defeated in his first match of the day by Uriah Jones of the University of Idaho, 4-6, 6-2, 10-3. Napolsky bounced back in the backdraw as he defeated the University of Montana's Alex Weinstein, 8-5 which allowed Napolsky to advance to the finals of the backdraw. Napolsky went to battle with Alex Hart of Montana, but came up on the losing end as he was defeated 9-8, (7-5). Also in the third flight backdraw, Gonzaga's Kyle Baltrusch was defeated by Hart, 8-6 in the semifinals round.

In the first flight, senior Reid Arthur battled with the University of Portland's Luis Gonzalez, but came up on the losing end of a hard fought match, 9-8, (7-5). Junior Brett Womack faired no better as he was defeated in the same flight by Montana's Stuart Wing, 8-6.

GU's final competitor Robert Penney picked up a win and a loss in the second flight backdraw. Penney first defeated UI's Garrett Engeset, 8-6, but then fell to EWU's Kyle Cruzat in the semifinals, 8-4.
