No. 14 Santa Clara Too Much For Volleyball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Brittany Lowe led three Santa Clara University players into double digit kills as the No. 14 Broncos were too much for the Gonzaga Bulldogs during West Coast Conference action on Friday night. SCU (14-1, 3-0 WCC) won the match in three games 30-20, 30-18, 30-19 as Gonzaga fell to 9-9, 1-1 in the WCC.
The Broncos combined for 54 kills and a .387 attack percentage as they finished with 34 more kills than the Bulldogs. Gonzaga played tough during the early parts of game one as the match had nine ties and five lead changes. Becky Jones was the lone Gonzaga player to reach double figure kills with 12. Heather Dunn passed out 29 assists that led to the Bulldogs 34 kills.
Lowe led SCU with 13 kills while Kim McGiven added 10. Cassie Perret was nearly unstoppable on the night finishing with 11 kills and a .667 attack percentage. Crystal Matich had 49 assists and 6 aces as Santa Clara dropped in 13 aces against the Bulldogs. Lacey Bell had two aces for Gonzaga as the team finished with three.
Caroline Walker had a match-high 17 digs as defense was not a factor in the match. Briawna Mueller had four of the Bulldogs seven blocks. Megan Pura had two of Santa Clara's four blocks.
Gonzaga travels to No. 15 San Diego for a Saturday night match against the Toreros.
