MISSION, Kan. - The Gonzaga University men's soccer team was recently honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as one of 65 intercollegiate men's teams to receive the NSCAA Academic Award which recognizes team grade point average of 3.0 and above. This marks the third straight year that the Bulldogs have been honored by the NSCAA as the team had a 3.3 GPA for the 2004-05 school year. The 3.3 mark tied with Lafayette College and Long Island University as the top mark among NCAA Division I members.
Last week Gonzaga men's soccer had two team members earn All-West Coast Conference academic honors with Ben Sawyer and George Josten being named to the team. Josten was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team on Nov. 28 making him the first Gonzaga soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors.
