LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team lost a West Coast Conference match to Loyola Marymount University 6-1 Thursday afternoon.
With the loss the Zags drop to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in WCC play. Loyola Marymount improves to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in WCC play.
GU's lone win came in the No. 4 singles spot when freshman Cooper Fratt defeated Linas Cicenas in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. GU also came close to a second victory in the No. 5 spot when freshman Marco Pineda took Matt Phillips to three sets, losing the first set 6-1, then winning the second set 7-5 but dropped the third set 6-0.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday as they head to Riverside, Calif. for a match against the University of California, Riverside at 2 p.m.
