Women's Tennis Falls In WCC Match

SPOKANE, Wash. - Emily Anderson and Erin Humphrey both picked up wins for Gonzaga University in singles competition on Thursday night, but the Bulldogs could not secure another singles point as they fell to Santa Clara University (3-5) at the Spokane Club Tennis Courts. The match did not include doubles play since the outcome was decided in singles action. Gonzaga falls to 0-6 on the year with the loss and will play at the University of Montana on Feb. 17.
Anderson and Humphrey both claimed victory by winning a match breaker that was played in place of a third set. Anderson defeated Kelly Leathers, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 at No.1 singles while Humphrey knocked off Stephanie Galainena, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 at No. 3 singles. Freshman Katie Colton pushed Stephanie Herrmann at No. 6 singles before falling to the Broncos player, 6-1, 6-3.
