The Gonzaga University men's tennis team earned it's third victory in the past two days Sunday with a 4-3 victory over defending Big Sky Conference champion Montana State University - Bozeman.
With the win, the Zags improve to 5-6 overall for the season.
Gonzaga jumped out to an early start by earning the doubles point. At the No. 2 position, the Bulldog duo of Marco Antonio Pineda and Charles Adams fought back from a 6-3 deficit to defeat the MSU duo of Zachary Buenger and Kyle McDonald 9-7. Bryce Cooper and Roman Dojcak earned a victory at the No. 3 position with an 8-3 win over David Kovas and Igor Vuckovic. The Bobcats earned a victory at the No. 1 position when Jakob Dybala and Anton Leonenko defeated Gonzaga's Zack Radetzky and Brett Womack 9-7.
Singles play was highlighted by a victory in the No. 4 position by Pineda. Pineda came back from being a set down to defeat Buenger by winning the second and third sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). Cooper Fratt earned a singles point at No. 5 for Gonzaga with a straight set victory over Kovas, who was unable to win a point (6-0, 6-0). Radetzky rounded out singles wins for the Zags by defeating Myles Perkins in straight sets (6-2, 6-0). Cooper playing at No. 1, Dojcak playing at No. 2 and Womack playing at No. 3 all suffered losses for Gonzaga to round out singles play. The Zags will hit the courts again March 9 when they travel to Seattle to take on the University of Washington.
