Bulldogs Close Out Regular Season With 6-1 Victory

CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's team closed out its regular season with a 6-1 non-conference victory over Eastern Washington University Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (11-11) posted their second win over EWU this season after taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the early point. Gonzaga then had five players post singles victories to clinch the Zags' 11th win of the season. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Aglaya Kokurina and Kristina Zauere posted their 10th win of the season and Clare Dodge and Madeline Edson-White clinched the doubles point with an 8-5 win in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Kokurina posted a No. 1 singles win, Rika Mehndiratta won her No. 2 match, Zauere recorded a win at No. 3 for her team-leading 17th win of the season. Gonzaga also had Dodge win at No. 5 singles and Edson-White earned a victory at No. 6 singles.
"It was good to close out the regular season and head into the West Coast Conference championship on a high note," head coach D.J. Gurule said. "Everybody played with great intensity and executed very well today."
The Bulldogs head to San Diego, Calif. for the WCC Championship this weekend, facing top-seeded Pepperdine University in Friday's first round.
