Bulldogs Suffer Tough Loss At No. 26 Washington

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 non-conference match at No. 26 University of Washington Friday.
The Huskies (1-0) grabbed the first point sweeping the Bulldogs (1-1) in all three doubles matches. Two Bulldog pairs were matched against teams ranked in the top 35 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The team of Zhia Hwa Chong and Scott Sullivan were no match against No.31 Jeeva Nedunchezhyan and Kyle McMorrow, losing 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Senior Kevin Eischen and freshman Pablo Mosquera Pérez made a strong effort at No. 2 doubles but lost 8-1 to No. 33 Martin Kildahl and Tobi Obenaus.
Washington went on to win all six singles matches. Sullivan and Eischen headed the Zags effort against one of the top teams in the country but both of them dropped 6-1, 6-3 decisions at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
The Bulldogs make their home debut Sunday against the University of Oregon at the Spokane Racquet Club at noon.
