ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's rowing team opens its 2013 spring season Friday by racing Loyola Marymount University at Ballona Creek in Marina Del Ray, Calif. The Bulldogs will then scrimmage UCLA Saturday at the same location.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Racing for the Gonzaga University versus Loyola Marymount University dual runs from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., Friday.
Here is the schedule for GU vs. LMU:
12:30 p.m.: Varsity 8+
12:45 p.m.: Second Varsity 8+
1 p.m.: Varsity 4+
The Zags scrimmage with UCLA is tentatively set to start between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

WHO THE VARSITY BOAT RETURNS: The 2013 Gonzaga University women's rowing Varsity 8+ will have three rowers in its boat this weekend that helped the Varsity 8+ win the WIRA Championship a season ago. The three returning members who also road in the Varsity 8+ in the West Coast Conference Championships last season are Madison Keaty, Malori McGill, and Naomi Medley. Keaty and McGill are both juniors, while Medley is a sophomore. Along with those three returnees, the Varsity 8+ boat consists of three freshman; Brooklyn Beeler, Devyn Bell and Kara Soucek.
HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE'S THOUGHTS ON THE TEAM'S SPRING BREAK TRAINING IN CALIFORNIA AND THE UPCOMING SEASON: "The trip to Sacramento has been very productive. We're excited about starting our season and look forward to the races this weekend."
