Williams-Goss Selected to Wooden Award Preseason Top 50

Nov. 15, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- Gonzaga men's basketball's Nigel Williams-Goss was named to the 2017 John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50, announced Tuesday.

The award is the most prestigious collegiate basketball honor and recognizes the nation's most outstanding basketball player each year. Williams-Goss was the lone mention from the West Coast Conference.

Williams-Goss was recently named to the Bob Cousy Award and Naismith Trophy Watch Lists. Through the first two games of the season at GU, he is averaging 12 points per outing. The redshirt junior grabbed eight rebounds in both games. He also has a team-high nine assists through the first two games.

The list will be narrowed to a midseason, late and finally a National Ballot list. The Wooden Award All-American team will be announced during the 'Elite Eight' round of the NCAA Tournament, while the recipient of the John R. Wooden Award will be announced during ESPN's College Basketball Awards Show presented by Wendy's on April 7, 2017.

Gonzaga welcomes Bryant Friday at 5:30 p.m.
