ABOUT BRYANT
- Aiming to make it four postseason appearances in five years, the Bulldogs from Smithfield, R.I., turn to a handful of underclassmen that it hopes will guide it back to prominence in the Northeast Conference.
- Led by the return of reigning NEC Rookie of the Year Marcel Pettway and fellow All-NEC Rookie Team selection Nisre Zouzoua the Bulldogs have an abundance of youthful talent ready to compete at a high level.
- Junior wing Hunter Ware finished second with 12.7 points per game on 36.7 percent shooting from downtown in 29 starts which leads this year's returners.
- One of just three seniors on this year's roster, forward Dan Garvin averaged 10.2 points per game and led the team with 1.3 blocks per game and 8.0 rebounds per contest last year.
- Bryant is coming off of an 88-61 win over Salve Regina Tuesday. Five Bulldogs scored in double-figures.
- Zouzoua followed a 19-point game against Notre Dame, with 13 points versus Salve Regina.
- Bryant outrebounded Notre Dame, 37-34, before having a 41-30 advantage on the glass against Salve Regina.
NIKE N7 GAME BACK
- For the second straight season, Gonzaga and Nike N7 are partnering in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
- During the game against Bryant University, like last season's game against Northern Arizona, the Zags will wear customized turquoise uniforms. The turquoise color is symbolic of friendship and fellowship in Native American cultures.
- Led by Sam McCracken (Fort Peck Sioux), N7 represents Nike's long-time commitment and mission to inspire and enable two million Native American and Aboriginal youth in North America to participate in sport and physical activity.
- All teams who partner with N7 wear turquoise uniforms during N7 games.
- With four Native American tribes in the Spokane area, and 29 in the state of Washington, GU and Nike N7 are teaming up to leverage basketball as a way of showing Native American youth that physical activity can have a profound effect on future generations.
- The N7 philosophy is inspired by Native American wisdom of the Seven Generations: In every deliberation we must consider the impact of our decisions on the seventh generation.
WEST COAST ROAST
- Gonzaga's 69-48 win over San Diego State during ESPN's Tipoff Marathon Monday was dominant.
- It was the Aztecs' largest margin of defeat over the last nine seasons, a span of 260 games, dating back to a 26-point loss at New Mexico in 2009.
- The Zags built a 30-point lead midway through the second half.
- San Diego State's 48 points matched last season's lowest point total by a GU opponent, while the Aztecs' 28.6 percent shooting from the field was the second-lowest percentage by a Bulldog opponent over the last two seasons.
