Men's Soccer Downed by LMU, 1-0

Zags back on road for next four matches

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga men's soccer team suffered its second straight 1-0 loss on Sunday against Loyola Marymount at Luger Field.

Gonzaga's (2-9-2, 0-2-0) offense wasn't able to get a shot on goal, and fired six shots total, on a day when LMU's (5-8-0, 2-1-0) only goal was the difference in the game.

"We ask our guys to bring their best every day, and today we weren't solid enough as a team," head coach Paul Meehan said. "It wasn't a lack of effort, but it wasn't a great performance today or indicative of the way we can play. We have to be our best, and we have to keep the ball moving to be dangerous."

After a first half that had only two shots for each team, with zero on goal, it was LMU that broke through first in the second half. In the 50th minute, LMU's CJ Neville scored when he got free in close.

The Zags then put together a solid chance when Demitrius Kigeya pushed the ball into the penalty area and passed to Frankie Ljucovic, who one-timed a shot just high over the cross bar.

Ben Willis made two saves in net for Gonzaga, who held LMU to just nine shots total.

Gonzaga will be on the road for each of its next four matches, starting with a trip to Missouri State on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.
