LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Gonzaga's Quynn Duong went under-par for the second straight round to finish third overall and Francesca Santoni matched with her own 71 to lead GU in the final round of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
Gonzaga posted a final round 308 as a team to finish in 14th overall at +65.
After shooting a second round 69 (-3) yesterday, Duong posted a one-under 71 to finish third individually in the event. Her 71 featured four birdies and an eagle two on the Par-4 second hole.
"It's tough to play with four players with Nina being out. She did everything she could to try to play, so I am really proud of our team's effort," head coach Brad Rickel said. "Quynn is playing great golf, and it has been really fun to watch. I think it is just a matter of time before she wins, she's right there. Francesca continues to impress us with her abilities as just a sophomore. She has grown so much, that really the sky is the limit for her. Jessica really gutted out a round today, she just stuck with it and made a bunch of great up-and-downs. We've faced some adversity, and our team continues to march forward and prove we are going to be a force to be reckoned with by the end of the year."
Santoni also played a fantastic round, posting her own one-under 71 with four birdies, including three straight on the fourth, fifth and sixth holes. The finish moved Santoni up to 12th on the individual leaderboard.
GU's Jessica Mangrobang played a solid final round as well, notching a four-over 76, her best of the three-round tournament. Mangrobang's round featured three birdies as she ended up tied for 57th overall.
The West Coast Conference's Santa Clara erased a three-shot deficit entering the day to earn the team title with a +27 total for the tournament.
Action will continue with the final round shotgun start at 8 a.m. of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Monday at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
