Zags race against tough competition on Willamette River

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team raced at the 12^th Portland Fall Classic on the Willamette River Sunday. The Zags entered two novice eight boats, three varsity four boats and three pairs, but weather cancelled much of the racing.

The Bulldogs' Second Novice 8 finished the 5,100-meter course in second with a time of 21:31.886. GU's First Novice 8 was third at 21:50.828. Oregon State crossed the line at 17:48.607 in first place. West Coast Conference foe Portland was fifth at 22:41.714.

Gonzaga's varsity four boats and pairs were unable to compete due to lightning in the area.

The Zags wrap up their fall schedule in Spokane against Washington State and Oregon State on the Spokane River Saturday. The regatta begins at 9 a.m.
