Women’s Rowing Finishes Fall State in Spokane

Zags welcome Washington State and Oregon State Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team wraps up their fall schedule against Oregon State and Washington State in a regatta on the Spokane River Saturday.

The Zags are hosting the regatta at its home boathouse on the Spokane River. The head-style race will follow a two-race format for each boat giving all the student-athletes the opportunity to row the 5,000-meter course twice before the morning is out.

This will be the second regatta for Gonzaga at its home boathouse. The Zags opened their season on the Spokane River on Oct. 13. It was also the debut of Marisa Wortman as GU's head coach.

In Saturday's first flight at 9 a.m., the Bulldogs will enter a Varsity 8, a Second Varsity 8, a Novice 8 and a Second Novice 8 boat, along with a Varsity 4 boat. The second flight begins at 10:30 a.m. The trio of programs will meet again in the Spring.
