Lane’s Game-Winner Gives Zags’ Rainy Victory

Zags outshot Pacific 25-6; 8-1 in shots on goal

SPOKANE, Wash. – On a chilly and rainy night at Luger Field, Alaysia Lane's goal in the 75th minute provided the breakthrough for the Gonzaga women's soccer team in a 1-0 win over Pacific.

Gonzaga (7-3-2, 2-1-1 West Coast Conference) dominated the possession and outshot the Tigers, 25-6. The Bulldogs put eight shots on goal, while Pacific had one. Samantha Heilman took five shots for GU, and Sophia Viviano finished with four.

After striking the posts twice and the crossbar once in the first half, Lane struck a loose ball into the back of the net in the 75th minute. Jodi Ulkekul and Viviano were credited with assists on Lane's first goal of the season. It was Viviano's fourth assist of year, and Ulkekul's first.

Regan Heslop kept GU scoreless for much of the match making seven saves for Pacific (2-10-0, 0-3-0 WCC). Isabel Jones had a save in the Zag net, recording her fourth shutout of the season. She now ranks seventh in program history with four shutouts in a season.

Gonzaga hosts Saint Mary's (6-5-2, 1-1-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. The Gaels were shutout at Portland Friday, 3-0.
