Series Notes: Gonzaga and Western Kentucky meet for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs have only faced on other current Conference USA team in Middle Tennessee. Gonzaga faced Middle Tennessee in the NCAA First Round on March 17, 2007. The Zags fell to the Blue Raiders 85-46.

- The Hilltoppers are 2-5 so far on the season with wins against Southern Illinois and East Tennessee State. Through seven games, Western Kentucky averages 77.9 points per game shooting 42.3 percent from the floor to go along with 33.6 rebounds per game, 13.0 assists per game and 9.9 steals per game.
- WKU gives up 88.9 points per game which ranks 346th in the NCAA. However, at 77.9 points per game, the Hilltoppers rank in the top 65 in the nation. So far this season, WKU has given up 100 or more points three times.
- Three players average double figures for Western Kentucky, led by Dee Givens at 19.9 points per contest. Raneem Elgedawy adds 16.3 points per game while Alexis Brewer chips in 10.7.

- Against both Notre Dame and Rutgers, Rice was hot for the Zags. Thursday against the Fighting Irish, the senior netted eight straight points, helping the Bulldogs to an 8-4 lead. Friday against the Scarlet Knights, Rice had seven of GU's first 10 points.
