Bulldogs look to improve to 2-0 in WCC Play

THE TIP-OFF
- Gonzaga and Pepperdine will meet for the 71st time in program history and the 32nd consecutive season. This will be the 33rd overall meeting in Malibu, and the Waves claim a 17-15 edge on their home floor. In the last meeting, Gonzaga defeated Pepperdine 81-70 in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament on March 2 in Las Vegas.
- With Saturday's win over Loyola Marymount, the Bulldogs are now 19-13 all-time in conference openers, but they are 14-2 since the 2003-04 season. The Bulldogs have also improved to 8-10 all-time in conference road openers, and they have won seven of their last nine conference openers on the road.
- The Zags are currently on an eight-game win streak, the longest so far of the season. The Bulldogs longest win streak in program history is 23 games, a feat they accomplished from Dec. 10, 2004 to March 6, 2005. The longest recent streak is 15-straight victories which occurred between Dec. 17, 2017 and Feb. 8, 2018.
- The Zags continue to stretch their best start in program history as they carry a 12-1 overall mark following their 78-53 win at Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Dec. 29. Previously, their best start was an 8-2 mark, most recently during the 2013-14 season.
- Gonzaga is ranked for the fourth-straight week after entering the polls at No. 24/22 on Dec. 3. Following their 37-point rout over Idaho, the Bulldogs moved up in the AP Poll to No. 20 on Dec. 24. It's the Bulldogs' highest ranking since being ranked No. 18 in March 2014.

SCOUTING PEPPERDINE:
- Pepperdine is 7-4 overall on the season and 1-0 in WCC play after defeating visiting Portland 82-68 Saturday in Malibu. The Waves are currently on a two-game win streak after defeating Northern Kentucky 51-46 before Christmas break.
- As a squad, the Waves average 68.8 points per game shooting 39.4 percent from the floor and 34.7 percent from long range. Pepperdine averages 40.8 rebounds per game to lead the WCC.
- Three players average double-figures for the Waves, led by the WCC leading scorer Yasmine Robinson-Bacote at 19.0 points per game. Robinson-Bacote set the Pepperdine single-game scoring record when she netted 47 in Pepperdine's 113-97 win over Sacramento State on Nov. 23. Paige Fecske adds 11.4 points per game while Barbara Sitanggan adds 10.2. Three players average at least five rebounds per game, led by Robinson-Bacote with 7.3 per game. For the first time this season, the Zags netted 50+ points in a half. After scoring a combined 23 points in the first half at Loyola Marymount on Dec. 29, the Bulldogs exploded for 55 points in the second half.
