SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Gonzaga men's rowing team will be back in the Varsity 8 American Specialty Health Cup Grand Final tomorrow morning at the San Diego Crew Classic after taking second in their heat on Saturday morning on Mission Bay.

The Zags came in seven seconds ahead of UC Davis at 6:25.951 to claim one of the two advancing spots. Temple won the heat at 6:16.425.

"I felt the guys did a great job with the race plan and executed well," Gonzaga head coach Dan Gehn said. "We will draw an outside lane tomorrow so they will need to work hard in the crosswind to be successful."

The Zags missed the grand final last year, but made it happen this year at the prestigious event. Among the 11 boats in the event, GU had the fourth-fastest overall time on the day.

Tomorrow's race is at 10:16 am against Temple, British Columbia, Orange Coast College, UC San Barbara, and conference-foe San Diego. Live streaming links are available on GoZags.com.
