
Women's Tennis Dominates USF, 4-0

GU (12-4) earned the doubles point and then won all six first sets in singles on the way to finishing off the first three that were completed to clinch the team victory at 4-0.
"It was great to get this match under our belt," head coach D.J. Gurule said. "I thought the girls did an excellent job staying focused all day. We will be ready for a short turnaround tomorrow at Santa Clara."
In doubles, the No. 42-ranked duo of Sophie Whittle and Graciela Rosas were the first to put the Zags in control of the point with a 6-2 win on Court 1. The pair of Alex Bourguignon and Haruna Tsuruta quickly followed with a 6-3 win on Court 2 to clinch the point.
In singles, it was Whittle again who earned her victory in dominating fashion with a 6-2, 6-2 win. GU also got victories from Domonique Garley, 6-1, 6-2 on No. 4 and Tsuruta, 6-1, 6-4 on No. 5 to clinch the match.
Nevada Apollo on Court 2, Rosas on Court 3 and Ashleigh Jacobs on Court 6 all earned a win in their first sets and were leading in the second on when their matches went unfinished.
Gonzaga will be back on the courts at Santa Clara on Saturday morning in West Coast Conference action.
