Singles: Finished with a 15-13 overall record with a 3-3 mark in WCC play…represented the Zags at both the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions…finished 5-6 at No. 2 and 3-3 at No. 3…opened the season with a 2-1 record at the Bulldog Invitational…closed the first tournament with a big tiebreaker win over Idaho’s Maria Tavares in the consolation bracket, 6-3, 4-6, 12-10…advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Division I Women’s Northwest Regional Championship, picking up wins over Portland’s Anna Oberg (6-1, 6-1) and Pacific’s Anna Ramos Vinolas (6-2, 6-4)…closed the fall schedule with the individual crown at the Gonzaga Invite, collecting three wins in three days with a tournament best 78.3 winning percentage in singles games…forced a third set against No. 74 Chiara Lommer of No. 10 Michigan in the ITA Weekend Kickoff on Jan. 27…posted a come-from-behind three-set victory against Idaho’s Maria Tavares in Gonzaga’s 6-1 match win…picked up another three-set victory over Eastern Washington’s Rylee Braeden on Feb. 18…led BYU’s Anastasia Abramyan 4-6, 6-3, 5-2 at No. 2 singles when Gonzaga clinched the match 4-2…earned another come-from-behind three-set victory with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over LMU’s Siobhan Anderson on April 7. Doubles: Finished the year 20-6 for a .769 win percentage…posted a 7-2 mark in WCC play…played 23 matches with doubles partner Sophie Whittle, including all 17 duals matches at the No. 1 doubles position…opened the fall slate with five-straight wins…advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Division I Women’s Northwest Regional Championship…closed the fall season with a perfect weekend at the Gonzaga Invite, earning the doubles title with Whittle…landed at No. 29 in the ITA Rankings on Feb. 7 after posting five-straight doubles wins and defeating then-No. 28 ranked Savannah Slaysman and Tereza Kolarova of Arizona State, 7-6(3)…battled back from a single-game deficit to defeat BYU’s Mayci Jones and Anastasia Abramyan 6-3 on Feb. 24…named WCC Doubles Team of the Week on March 20 following wins against Harvard and Fresno State…battled Harvard’s Anna Li and Annika Ringblom 7-6(3) and followed it up with a 6-0 sweep over Fresno State’s Emma Wilson and Georgia Lawson…once again came-from-behind for the win, battling back from a 1-3 deficit at No. 1 doubles to defeat then-No. 29 Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek of Loyola Marymount on April 7.
2016-17 (Sophomore): First Team All-WCC -- Doubles. Singles: 20-8 overall in singles play, 14-3 in duals...reached two bracket championships in tournament play...2-0 at Gonzaga Invitational Nov. 11-13...opened spring season with seven consecutive wins Jan. 29 to March 14...moved to No. 3 singles Feb. 17 versus Idaho, downing Jessica Brzozowska in three sets...also beat Hawaii's Roxanne Resma in three...5-1 in WCC play and led one match left unfinished...beat Saint Mary's' Clementine Clement 6-3, 6-2 to help GU win first dual against Gaels in 16 years April 14. Doubles: 17-10 overall in doubles play, 12-3 in dual play...reached two bracket finals in fall tournament season with Alex Bourguignon...won three straight matches with Bourguignon Feb. 10-17, led two more left unfinished Feb. 24-26...first teamed with Sophie Whittle at No. 2 doubles March 18, downing Boyden/Bacharach of Cal Poly 6-3...with Whittle, ended year on 9-0 run and remained only doubles team in WCC to go undefeated in dual play...6-0 in WCC play, claiming wins against San Francisco, Santa Clara, BYU, Saint Mary's Pacific, and Loyola Marymount...named WCC Doubles Team of the Week March 28...also beat Cusick/Beckman of BYU April 28 in WCC Championships semifinal.
2015-16 (Freshman): Singles: 19-7 overall, 14-4 in dual play at No. 5 singles…went 2-3 at Cougar Classic Sept. 11-13, including 6-2, 6-2 win in first collegiate match…reached final of White Singles Flight at Bulldog Invitational Nov. 6-8…won first collegiate dual Jan. 16 at Utah State…won 11 matches in a row and went unbeaten in 14 from Jan. 31 to April 8…ten of those wins came in two sets, and six came when ceding three games or fewer…back-to-back 6-1, 6-0 matches March 7 and 9…on March 26, came back to beat BYU’s Taylah Beckman in three sets to clinch GU’s first-ever win over the Cougars…4-2 in WCC play with wins over San Diego, BYU, Loyola Marymount, and Pacific. Doubles: 8-8 overall and 0-2 in dual play…went 2-1 with Alex Bourguignon at Cougar Classic Sept. 11-13…teaming with Nevada Apollo, reached semifinal of Bulldog Invitational with three straight wins Nov. 6-8…with Apollo, played No. 3 doubles in first collegiate dual Jan. 16 at Utah State.
High School: Played three years at Vincent Memorial Catholic in Calexico, Calif. …reached the CIF semifinals all three years, earning MVP honors three times as well…went undefeated in league play through all three years and was a three-time Athlete of the Year award winner from the Imperial Valley Press…also earned a spot on the Honor Roll multiple times.
Other Experience: Continuously the top ranked player in Baja California since 2007, has represented the state in five National Olympics, claiming gold in 2011…also has tournament wins in the 2014 Desert Princes Spring Open Championship and the 85th Annual Balboa Open Maureen Connolly Memorial.
Personal: Parents are Patricia and Gustavo…has a brother also named Gustavo…majoring in business administration and wants to minor in sports management…chose Gonzaga because “the team and coaches made Gonzaga feel like home. The tennis program is amazing and the coaches really commit themselves to improving the person on and off the court. I’m looking forward to working as a team and improving my tennis.”
