Bulldogs look to snap seven-match losing streak
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga volleyball team travels to southern California this week for matches at Loyola Marymount and at Pepperdine on Oct. 3 and Oct. 5, respectively.

vs. Loyola Marymount

This series dates back to 1987 when the two programs first met in WCC play. LMU claimed wins in the first three meetings, but GU responded with five straight wins and seven wins in the next nine matches to lead 7-5 through the first 12 matches. In the last six matches, Gonzaga has won four and is currently on a two-match win streak against the Lions.
vs. Pepperdine

Of GU's eight wins over the Waves, five have come in the last six seasons. GU won three matches from 1992 to 1996, all at home, while four of the last five wins have come at home. Gonzaga's lone victory in Malibu came during the 2016 season.
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- LMU has an additional match at No. 9 BYU on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
- Through 14 matches, LMU carries an 8-6 overall record with a 2-0 mark in West Coast Conference play. The Lions picked up back-to-bac 3-0 wins to open conference, defeating Santa Clara and San Francisco.
- As a squad, LMU averages 13.50 kills per set hitting .233 to go along with 12.63 assists, 14.08 digs and 1.60 blocks.
- Rose Booth leads the attached with a team-high 3.75 kills per set hitting .239; Savannah Slattery is a close second with 3.42 kills per set hitting 2.76.
- Defensively, three players average at least two digs per set, led by Mary Shroll with 4.16, though Shroll has only seen action in 31 of 52 sets this season. Bo Culo ranks second with 2.45 digs per set while Ella Boehle adds 2.22. Emmelyn Waters and Megan Rice lead the defense at the net with a team-high 0.75 blocks per set each.
- The Lions have faced two ranked opponents so far this season in then No. 2 Nebraska and then No. 19 Illinois. In each match, LMU was able to steal a set as it won the first set against both opponents (33-31 at Nebraska; 26-24 vs. Illinois).

- Shannon Scully leads the attack with 3.19 kills per set hitting .241. Three other players average over 2.00 kills per set as Rachel Ahrens averages 2.79, Kayleigh Hames adds 2.43 and Tarah Wylie averages 2.22 kills per set.
- Hana Lishman leads the defensive effort with a team-high 3.67 digs per set; Scully adds 3.02. Both Wylie and Hames tie for the lead in blocks with 0.81 per set.
- Pepperdine has faced two ranked opponents so far this season in then No. 16 Utah and No. 6 Pittsburgh. The Waves fell to Utah in four sets while taking Pittsburgh to five sets, falling 3-2.
