MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine handed the Gonzaga women's soccer team its first conference loss of the season, 2-0, Saturday.
The Waves (7-5-2, 3-1-0 West Coast Conference) scored a pair of goals in the first half and outshot GU, 15-9. Pepperdine had eight shots on goal, while the Zags had four.
Pepperdine's Nicolette Lewis opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Devyn Gilfoy and Hailey Stenberg were both credited with assists on the goal off of a corner kick.
In the 38
th minute, Chloe Gaynor found Olivia Packer for the Waves' second goal.
Four Zags (9-4-1, 2-1-1 WCC) finished with two shots, and
Lyza Bosselmann made four saves in the GU net. Kinsey Ehmann had four saves for Pepperdine.
Pepperdine outshot the Bulldogs 9-5 in the first half. GU had three shots on goal, while the Waves had four.
