Zags in search of first conference win
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga volleyball team hits the road for its third-straight road match at Portland at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.

Gonzaga has dominated the series as of late, winning 12 of the last 14 matches including a 10-match win streak from 2013-2017. The longest win streak for the Zags throughout the series was a 13-match win streak from 1991-1997. The Bulldogs' lone loss in the last six seasons came at home during the 2018 season.
SCOUTING THE PILOTS:
- Portland carries a 10-9 overall record so far this season with a 2-6 mark in WCC play.
- The Pilots have picked up wins against Pacific and at San Francisco during the first half of conference play; both matches went to five sets.
- Portland averages 12.42 kills per set hitting .181 to go along with 11.6 assists per set. Defensively, the Pilots average 14.7 digs and 1.7 blocks per set.
- Liz Reich leads the offensive attack with 3.47 kills per set hitting .174. Shayla Hoeft also averages over three kills a set with 3.10 hitting .262. Hoeft also ranks second on the team in blocks per set with 0.79.
- Defensively, Portland is led by Carey Williams with 4.50 digs per set; both Emma Scanlan and Grace Zilbert add 2.28 digs per set. Katie Barker leads the Pilots with 0.82 blocks per set.
CAREER-HIGHS SHATTERED IN FIVE-SET BATTLE
- In Gonzaga's five-set loss at San Francisco, multiple Zags set new career highs. Kennedy Croft led the attack with a career-high 20 kills off 68 swings with just four errors to hit .235. The sophomore from Tumwater, Wash., added 16 digs, just shy of her career-high of 17. Croft also moved into the program's top 10 in single season aces with her second aces of the set; she now has 28 aces on the season.
- Sarah Penner smashed her previous career-high in digs, registering 27 on the day, eight more than her previous career-high of 18.
- Julia Talarico also reached a new career-high in digs, finishing with 27.
- Jenna Kuehn also shattered a previous career-high, finishing with 49 assists on the day; the senior now ranks fifth all-time in program history in career assists with 1,772.
- As a squad, the Zags finished the five-set match with 115 digs, one dig shy of tying the program record for digs in a single match. The 115 digs are the most digs since finishing with 78 digs at UCLA on Aug. 26, 2018.
- The Zags' 57 assists are the most in a single match this season. Their 59 kills also marked a season high.
