MSOC’s Kigeya, Wilson Named All-WCC Second Team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Four Gonzaga men's soccer players were honored by the West Coast Conference with Demitrius Kigeya and Garrett Wilson named to the All-WCC Second Team, league officials announced Tuesday.

In addition to Kigeya and Wilson, both Johan Garibay and Cole Rovegno were named the All-WCC Honorable Mention and All-WCC Freshman Team. The quartet helped the Zags finish third in the league for the first time since 2013 with a 3-3-1 league record, behind NCAA Tournament qualifiers Saint Mary's and Loyola Marymount.

Kigeya, a sophomore forward from Madison, Wis., helped ignite the GU offense with a team-high 35 overall shots and 12 on goal, while scoring three goals and gathering two assists to rank second on the team with eight points. He was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team last season.

Wilson, a senior defender from Eagle, Colo., is honored for the third time in his career after being named to the All-WCC Freshman Team his first season and to the All-WCC Honorable Mention last year. He helped anchor the defense that claimed two shutouts and allowed just 1.75 goals per game on the season.

Rovegno, a freshman defender from Folsom, Calif., was a force on both ends of the field. In addition to his defensive duties, he also added a goal and four assists on the season to rank third on the team with six points.

Garibay, a redshirt freshman goalkeeper from Stockton, Calif., led the defense with the league's second-best save total of 58 on the year. He also ranked second in saves during WCC play with 26 in seven league contests.
