Gonzaga faces the Cowgirls for first time since 2015

THE TIP-OFF
- Gonzaga will look to improve to 10-1 overall on the season Tuesday at Wyoming. With a win, Gonzaga will post an 10-1 start to the season for the second time in program history and the second-straight season.
- Gonzaga broke into the Associated Press Top 25 poll at No. 23 following a 76-70 overtime loss at Stanford on Nov. 17. This week, GU held steady in the Associated Press Top 25 at No. 17.
- Gonzaga carries a 19-23 overall record against current Mountain West programs. GU has face Boise State the most out of any current MW programs; the Broncos claim a 13-6 advantage in that series. Tuesday's game will be the sixth meeting between Gonzaga and Wyoming; GU carries 4-1 overall mark over the Cowgirls and are currently on a four-game win streak.
- This will mark the 12th time in program history that the Zags have played on Dec. 17 and the first time since 2017. Gonzaga carries a 7-4 overall mark on the date. The Bulldogs have won three of the last four games played on Dec. 17, including a 97-74 win over Saint Francis during the 2017-18 season (the last time the Zags suited up on the date).
- Gonzaga currently ranks second in the nation in percent attendance capacity. The Zags average 91.56 percent capacity; that's an average of 5,494 fans that fill McCarthey Athletic Center every game.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and seven letter-winners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' third consecutive and 15th overall West Coast Conference regular season title.
- In 2018-19, the Bulldogs advanced to their third-straight NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Second Round.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
- Wyoming returns seven letter-winners and two starters from last season's squad that finished 25-9 overall with a 13-5 mark in the Mountain West Conference. The Cowgirls advanced to the quarterfinals of the WNIT.
- The Cowgirls were picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West conference in the preseason poll released on Oct. 31. The poll is voted on by the league's 11 coaches and a select group of media that covers the MW women's basketball teams.
- Top returners for the Cowgirls are senior Taylor Rusk and sophomore Karla Erjavec. Rusk is poised to be Wyoming's next 1,000-point scorer with 76 points to go while Erjavec set the freshman assists record a season ago with 124 to lead the team.
- This season, the Cowgirls are 6-4 through 10. Wyoming averages 63.5 points per game shooting 41.4 percent from the floor and 34.7 percent from long range. Tereza Vitulova leads the offensive attack with 13.2 points per game shooting 51.3 percent from the floor. Quinn Weidemann adds 9.3 points per game.
- As a team, Wyoming averages 38.5 rebounds per game which ranks second in the Mountain West Conference. Four players average at least 4.0 rebounds per game, led by Vitulova with 6.4. Alba Sanchez Ramos adds 4.9 boards per game, while Rusk and Erjavec both add 4.1 rebounds per game.
- The Cowgirls are fresh off a home loss to Northern Colorado; Wyoming fell to the Bears 46-44 on Dec. 15.
- The last time the Zags faced Wyoming was on Dec. 3, 2015. Gonzaga held off the Cowgirls 61-57 in overtime. The Bulldogs were led by Sheby Cheslek with a then- career-high 18 points off 6-of-9 from the floor to go along with nine boards and six blocks.

CHANCES ARE, IT'S GOING IN
Gonzaga ranks eighth nationally in field goal percentage at 48.1 percent; from three, the Zags rank fourth in the nation at 41.0 percent. The only teams to edge out the Bulldogs in three-point shooting percentage are: Holy Cross (45.8 percent); South Dakota (43.7 percent) and Providence (43.4 percent).
Gonzaga's 48.1 percent shooting from the floor also leads the West Coast Conference, and four Zags rank in the top 10 in the conference in field goal percentage. Jill Townsend leads the charge shooting 56.8 percent from the floor---the only true guard ranked in the top five--to rank third in the WCC. Melody Kempton ranks fourth shooting 55.9 percent from the floor, Katie Campbell ranks ninth shooting 52.2 percent while LeeAnne Wirth ranks 10th shooting 52.1 percent from the floor.
