WGOLF Kicks Off Spring at Battle at the Rock

New look Zags ready for the season
SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga women's golf will hit the road to open the spring at the Battle at the Rock, hosted by UC Riverside at the Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif., on Monday and Tuesday.
THE TOURNAMENT:
- This marks the first time the Zags have played in the Battle at the Rock.
- The 54-hole, two-day event features 15 teams and a number of individuals. The golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday to finish.

FALL RECAP:
- As a team, Gonzaga had a pair of sixth-place finishes in the fall season. Those came at the Battle at Old Works in Anaconda, Montana, and the Pat Bradley Invitational in Florida.
- Gonzaga freshman Quynn Duong placed in the top 20 four times in four tournaments, including second-place finishes at the Battle at Old Works and the Pat Bradley Invitational, and a third-place finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Wash.
- Duong led the Zags with a 72.33 stroke average in the fall season.
- Francesca Santoni was next-best on the squad with a 75.33 stroke average and one top 10 finish, a ninth-place showing at the Battle at Old Works.
- Jessica Mangrobang was at a 76.92 stroke average for the fall season.
NEW ADDITION
- Gonzaga added freshman Federica Torre at the semester break, and she will compete in her first collegiate tournament at the Battle at the Rock.
- Torre, a native of Ronco Scrivia, Italy, has a number of victories in her career, including two in 2018. She won the 64th Women's and Men's City of Rome Golden Cup in Rome in early April, and then in August, she hoisted the trophy after winning the 23rd Grand Prix "City of Cervia" by nine strokes.
SCHEDULE:
- The Battle at the Rock is the first of four tournaments leading up to the West Coast Conference Championships on April 18-20.
