MALIBU, Calif. — Gonzaga women's tennis lost 4-0 on Friday afternoon in Malibu, Calif., to the ninth-ranked Pepperdine Waves.
Pepperdine (13-3, 4-0) controlled the action throughout doubles and singles on the way to the sweep over Gonzaga (7-9, 2-3).
The Waves took the doubles point with a pair of 6-0 wins on Nos. 2 and 3, then won five of six first sets on the six courts before taking the three points needed to clinch the match.

Sophie Whittle led her opponent, No. 45 Ashley Lahey, 7-5, 2-3 when the match went unfinished.
The Zags stay in SoCal for tomorrow's match at Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m.
