Kigeya notched his first goal of the season in the loss
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Gonzaga men's soccer got a late goal from Demitrius Kigeya, but it wasn't enough as GU fell 3-1 on the road at Cal Poly on Sunday afternoon.
The Mustangs (2-2) took a 1-0 lead into halftime and then added two more before the Zags (0-6) got on the board in the 84th minute.
Cal Poly out shot Gonzaga 15-9 overall and 10-2 in shots on goal, forcing Gonzaga goalkeeper Johan Garibay to make a career-high seven saves.
Kigeya's goal came with the Zags facing a 3-0 deficit and was assisted by Theo O'Malley. The goal was Kigeya's first of the season after leading GU in goals last season. The assist was also O'Malley's first of the season.
Gonzaga will be back on the road for its next two matches with a Friday game at Cal Baptist and then a Sunday matchup at UC Irvine. Check GoZags.com for links to live coverage.
