Mark McEntosh scored his first goal of the year for GU
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Gonzaga men's soccer jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but couldn't hold on at Marist in a 2-1 loss on Friday evening in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Gonzaga's Mark McEntosh gave the Zags a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute with his first goal of the season, but just seven minutes later Marist tied the score.
GU (0-3-0) went into halftime tied, but a Red Fox (1-1-0) goal early in the second half proved to be the difference.
Both teams managed just four shots on goal, and Marist held the edge in shots overall 18-12. Demitrius Kigeya and Frankie Ljucovic led the way for GU with three shots each, while McEntosh and Joe Corner each had two.
Gonzaga will head down the road to Teaneck, N.J., to face Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. MT. Check GoZags.com for links to live coverage.
