THE TIP OFF
- Gonzaga meets West Virginia in the 2020 Jimmy V Classic on Wednesday, at 4 p.m. Pacific Time, in Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
- This is the fifth all-time meeting between GU and the Mountaineers. The Bulldogs have won all four previous matchups, with the latest coming in the West Regional Final of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
- This is the third time Gonzaga has played in the Jimmy V Classic. In 2002, the Zags got a 69-60 win over North Carolina State. In 2017, GU fell to Villanova 88-72.
- The Zags opened the season with wins over No. 6/5 Kansas and Auburn in the Ft. Myers Tip-Off in Ft. Myers, Fla.
- In the win over Auburn, Drew Timme scored a career-high 28 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds.
- Coach Few reached 600 wins in his career with the win over Kansas. He tied Roy Williams as the fastest to 600 wins in years coaching (22). Few boasts the best winning percentage among active head coaches at 82.8 percent.
- Corey Kispert joined Gonzaga's 1,000-point club in the win over Kansas. He needed nine points to reach the milestone and finished with 23. He is four made three-pointers from joining the program's Top-10 career makes. He has helped the Zags win 97 of the 107 games he has played in.
- Drew Timme was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, while Jalen Suggs was tabbed the league's Freshman of the Week.

SERIES NOTES
- This is the fifth all-time meeting between Gonzaga and West Virginia. The Zags have won all four previous matchups.
- In the latest meeting, the Bulldogs escaped WVU in the West Regional Semifinal in the 2017 NCAA Tournament in San Jose, Calif. The top-seeded Zags beat fourth-seeded West Virginia, 61-58.
- GU won the first-ever meeting, 77-54, in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa. The seventh-seeded Zags cruised to the win over 10th-seeded WVU, behind 56 percent shooting from the field.
- Gonzaga eased to an 84-50 home win in the second meeting on Nov. 12, 2012. The game was part of ESPN's Tipoff Marathon.
- The following season, GU visited West Virginia and edged out the Mountaineers, 80-76.
- The Bulldogs are 20-9 against current Big 12 members, including 8-2 in the last 10.
- The last eight meetings against Big 12 opponents have come on a neutral floor.
- This will be the second of three meetings against a Big 12 opponent for GU, after defeating Kansas in the season-opener facing No. 2/1 Baylor Saturday in Indianapolis. Baylor topped the league's preseason poll, followed by Kansas and West Virginia. Texas and Texas Tech were fourth and fifth, and were both on the Zags' original 2020-21 schedule.
 
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- West Virginia opened its season by winning the Crossover Classic in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Mountaineers won all three games inside the Sanford Pentagon, where Gonzaga will face Iowa on Dec. 19.
- The Mountaineers opened the season with a 79-71 win over South Dakota State, before beating VCU in the semifinals, 78-66. WVU picked up its third straight win in three days, defeating Western Kentucky in the finals, 70-64.
- West Virginia's Derek Culver was named the tournament's MVP, after totaling 45 points, 30 rebounds and six blocks.
- Miles McBride is averaging a team-high 16.3 points and has dished out a team-best 10 assists.
- Sean McNeil and Taz Sherman are adding 13.7 and 11.7 points per outing.
 
TIMME NAMED WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Timme had an impressive opening pair of games for top-ranked Gonzaga. He totaled 53 points on 71 percent shooting from the field (22-of-31).
- He grabbed 16 rebounds in the season-opening victories in the 2020 Ft. Myers Tip-Off in Ft. Myers, Fla.
- In the first game of his sophomore season, he scored a game-high 25 points, making 11 of his 15 shots in the win over No. 6 Kansas.
- The Dallas, Texas, native, followed up that performance with a career-high 28 points in a win over Auburn. He finished with a double-double pulling down 10 boards as well.
 
SUGGS NAMED WCC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
- Suggs burst onto the scene with a total of 36 points on 62.5 percent shooting from the field (15-of-24).
- In his first collegiate games, the West St. Paul, Minn., native, dished out 14 assists to just three turnovers.
- He scored 24 points, made eight assists and grabbed four rebounds in his college debut versus No. 6 Kansas.
- Suggs followed that performance up with 12 points, six assists and four rebounds against Auburn.
 
ZAGS IN JIMMY V CLASSIC
- Gonzaga has played in the Jimmy V Classic twice before.
- The Zags defeated No. 25 North Carolina State, 69-60, in East Rutherford, N.J., on Dec. 17, 2002.
- No. 4 Villanova beat GU 88-72 on Dec. 5, 2017, in
New York City.
