Medvedcova Named WCC Singles Player of the Week

Sophomore went 2-0 in singles in a pair of Zag wins

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's tennis sophomore Vlada Medvedcova was named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week for her performances in a pair of GU wins last weekend, league officials announced Wednesday. The award was the first given out in the WCC this season.

Medvedcova swept both of her singles matches in a doubleheader on Saturday to earn her first career honor. Playing Idaho and Eastern Washington, the Moldova native played the No. 4 position in the lineup and factored in the win in both matches. She scored Gonzaga's first point against Idaho with a 6-0, 6-1 victory and then added a 6–1, 6-3 win against Eastern Washington for the Zags' penultimate point in a 4-0 sweep.

Gonzaga will be back on the road its next time out, traveling to Pullman, Wash., to take on Washington State on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Noon. Check GoZags.com for links to live coverage.
