MORAGA, Calif. — The Gonzaga women's soccer team won their 13th game of the season at Saint Mary's Saturday, 1-0, setting a new program record for most victories in a single season.
The Zags (13-5-0, 3-4-0 West Coast Conference) surpassed the 2005, 2008 and 2019 GU squads previous record of 12 wins in a single season. This Bulldog squad also owns the GU single season records for most goals (44), assists (37), points (125) and shots (352).
Gonzaga recorded its 10th shutout of the season behind its defense and two saves from Lyza Bosselmann. Taylor Poland made three saves in the Gaels' net.
Marissa Garcia scored the game's lone goal in the 39th minute. The freshman found the back of the net for the fourth time this season off Isabelle Moultray's third assist.
SMC (9-3-4, 3-2-2 WCC) outshot the Bulldogs, 12-7, with a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. GU had 51 percent of the possession in the match and took four of the match's seven corner kicks.
Gonzaga welcomes San Francisco Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season at Luger Field. The Dons (6-7-2, 2-4-0) hosted No. 13 Pepperdine Saturday night.
