THE TIP OFF
- Gonzaga welcomes Lewis-Clark State in an exhibition for both teams Friday at 6 p.m.
- The Zags are No. 1 in the Associated Press preseason poll entering the season. Its the second-ever No. 1 preseason ranking in program history, but also the second straight season GU achieved the honor.
- For the first time in program history, Gonzaga was ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Coaches' preseason poll.
- The Zags have a history of cruising in their season-opening exhibitions. Gonzaga has an average margin of victory of 40 points in exhibition wins over the past 13 games.
- In their season-opening exhibition against Eastern Oregon, the Bulldogs cruised to a 115-62 victory. The Zags never trailed and led by as many as 55 points late in the second half. GU forced 25 turnovers and turned that into a 38-3 advantage in points off turnovers. The Bulldogs also held a 70-22 advantage in points in the paint. Julian Strawther scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. He was 3-for-6 from behind-the-arc. Chet Holmgren added 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field in his Zag debut.
- In 2016-17, GU opened its season with a 122-76 victory over West Georgia. The Zags' 122 points were the most points scored by Gonzaga in any game since a 123-72 exhibition victory over Northwest Sports in 2003.
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the national championship game following a 31-0 start to the season. Gonzaga won the league regular season title for a national-best ninth straight season. The Bulldogs became the first team in NCAA Div. 1 history to reach 30 wins in five straight seasons.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and nine letterwinners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' ninth consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title.
- In 2020-21, the Bulldogs advanced to their 22nd straight NCAA Tournament, and sixth consecutive Sweet 16.
- Gonzaga won 33 games last season, including 16-0 in West Coast Conference play. It was the third straight 30-win season, fourth in the last five seasons and fifth in the last seven seasons.
- The Zags own the country's longest home win streak with 51 consecutive victories inside the McCarthey Athletic Center, breaking the previous program record of 50.
- Drew Timme was the lone unanimous selection to the 2021-22 Preseason Associated Press All-American Team.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS:
- Lewis-Clark State has already played three regular season games, winning all three by a margin of 44.7 points.
- After a pair of blowout wins over Yellowstone Christian, the Warriors cruised past Northwest Indian College Wednesday, 118-56. Brennen Newsom came off the bench to lead all scorers with 20 points for LCSC. Four other Warriors scored in double-digits, including Silas Bennion who had 10 points along with eight rebounds.
- LC State limited Northwest Indian College to 27.9 percent shooting from the field. The Warriors made 60.8 percent from the field, including 11-of-24 from three-point range.
- Through three games, Nathan Fromm leads the team scoring 15.3 points per outing at 70.4 percent shooting from the field. Kevin Baker adds 14.3 points per game.
- Lewis-Clark State opens the season ranked No. 20 in the NAIA Preseason national poll.
- Coming off a NAIA national championship game appearance, Lewis-Clark State returns one starter, welcomes a handful of new faces, and looks for returners to build on what has come before them.
- This will be the program's first full season as a member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference in the NAIA. The Warriors were picked third in the league's preseason poll.
- LC will be led by key returners Khalil Stevenson, Nathan Fromm, Silas Bennion, and Oreon Courtney who will see their roles increased this season.
- Stevenson, the lone senior, was the Warriors' top scorer in the NAIA National Championship game as he enters his fourth go-around with the program. He was one of two Warriors to start all 24 games last season while averaging 8.2 points per game.

- Playing in front of a sold-out crowd for the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Zags never trailed and led by as many as 55 points late in the second half.
- GU forced 25 turnovers and turned that into a 38-3 advantage in points off turnovers. The Bulldogs also held a 70-22 advantage in points in the paint. The Bulldogs' 16 steals led to a 46-7 advantage in fastbreak points. GU also had 11 blocked shots.
