SPOKANE, Wash.- The Gonzaga men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to visiting Montana Sunday afternoon inside the Stevens Center.
 
The Grizzlies started off strong in doubles, taking two of the three courts. Matthew Perkins and Hunter Egger fell 6-2 to Mortiz Stoeger and Pontus Hallgren on court three; soon after, Theo McDonald and Pablo Gomez Galvan secured a 6-4 win on court one against Montana's Ed Pudney and Milo Benn. Montana claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Leon Roider and Sasha Trkulja.
 
Gonzaga came back in singles, winning two straight matches to open singles play. McDonald was first to finish on court six, defeating Guillermo Martin 6-1, 6-3. Gomez Galvan swept his first set 6-0 against Benn, and he was able to secure the win with a 6-3 victory in his second set. Trkulja fell 6-3, 6-3 against Pudney at No. 1 singles, which tied the match 2-2.  
 
Roider was next to finish with a point favoring the Zags. His first set was a quick 6-3 set, and he pulled the win in extra games with a 7-5 win his second set. Egger won his first set 6-4 on court four, but fell in his next two 6-4, 6-4, leaving match point up to Perkins. On court five, Perkins won his first set 7-5, but Montana's Pontus Hallgren took the second set, 7-5. After a grueling third set, Hallgren took the match with a 7-5 third-set win.
