SAN Francisco, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's tennis fell to San Francisco Saturday afternoon in a 4-0 sweep in San Francisco, Calif.
San Francisco (7-6, 2-3 WCC) secured its second victory in West Coast Conference play while the Zags fell to 1108 overall with an 0-4 mark in WCC play. The Dons took an early lead as John Garpered and Nitzan Ricklis defeated Gonzaga's
Matthew Hollingworth and
Matthew Perkins 6-3 in the first doubles match.
Leon Roider and
Sasha Trkulja then fell 6-4 to Stevie Gould and Phuc Huynh Court 2. The Zags held a 5-4 lead on Court 1 before the match went unfinished.
In singles, the struggles continued for the Bulldogs as
Theo McDonald lost to Mitch Johnson 6-2, 6-4 on Court 6. Trkulja fell in a similar result 6-2, 6-4 to Paul Giraud of the Dons, and Hollingworth fought hard against Ricklis but also lost in two sets 6-3, 6-4. The remaining matches went unfinished leaving the final score at 4-0 in favor of San Francisco.
The Zags are back at it again tomorrow Sunday, April 11 to take on the Broncos of Santa Clara. The match will start at 11 a.m., in Santa Clara, Calif. Check GoZags.com for up-to-date match time information.
