MORAGA, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's tennis team fell to Saint Mary's 4-2 Friday afternoon at the Korth Tennis Complex in Moraga, Calif. The match was the final match of the season for the Zags, who finished the season with a 12-11 overall mark and a 1-7 record in West Coast Conference Play.
Saint Mary's (5-13, 2-5 WCC) took control of the doubles point early, winning by a 6-4 decision on both Court 1 and Court 2. GU's
Leon Roider and
Sasha Trkulja led SMC's Fabian Roensdorf and Felipe Rincon 6-5 on Court 3 when the Gaels clinched the doubles point, leaving the match unfinished.
In singles play, Gonzaga's
Pablo Gomez Galvan opened with a quick win over the Gaels, defeating Caelan Potts 6-0, 6-1 on Court 5. SMC claimed the next match as
Matthew Hollingworth fell in a 6-2, 6-3 battle against Damon Kesaris at No. 1 singles. SMC took a victory on Court 3 to claim a 3-1 lead in the match, but Trkulja battled for a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 victory on Court 2 to keep the Zags alive. Saint Mary's clinched the match at No. 4 as Roider fell to Roensdorf 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
