CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's rowing team competed at the Western Sprints Saturday morning at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Gonzaga's varsity 8 finished third while the JV8 finished second.
In the first race of the morning, GU's varsity 8 finished the 2000m course in 6:00.36, less than five seconds behind UCSD's winning time of 5:55.85. In the JV8, Gonzaga's crew crossed in 6:09.79, just over two seconds shy of UCSD's winning time of 6:07.46.
"The guys raced well today in both boats," Head Coach
Dan Gehn said. "We ran new lineups and we still have some speed to squeeze out before IRAs."
The 118th IRA Regatta will take place May 28-29 on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, NJ.
