THE TIP OFF
- Gonzaga hosts Southern Utah University this Saturday, Nov. 12 for its second-straight home game of the season.
- The Bulldogs are coming off an 80-54 victory against Long Beach State on Thursday, Nov. 10. Four Zags scored in double-figures as Yvonne Ejim led the way with a double double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Brynna Maxwell scored 14 points while both Kayleigh Truong and Kaylynne Truong scored 13 points and both dished out six assists each.
- The Zags had one exhibition game this year prior to their season opening win, defeating Western Washington, 78-36. Senior Kayleigh Truong led the way with a 17-point performance. Two other Bulldogs also scored in double figures, including Brynna Maxwell with 14 and Yvonne Ejim with 13. From beyond the arc, GU made 10 three-pointers with Kayleigh Truong making five of those.
- This marks the last home game until Nov. 26 as Gonzaga travels to Wyoming next Tuesday, Nov. 15, and then travels to the Bahamas to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The field includes Gonzaga, Louisville, Marquette, South Dakota State, Texas, Tennessee, Rutgers, and UCLA. The Bulldogs are set to take on Louisville in the opening round of the tournament.
- The Zags are receiving votes in the most recent USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
- The Bulldogs were recently picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.
- Seniors Kayleigh Truong, Kaylynne Truong and junior Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22. Kayleigh Truong earned All-WCC First Team honors after her performance in 2021-22. Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.
- Last season, the Zags advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year under head coach Lisa Fortier.

LAST MEETING: In 2015, Gonzaga hosted Southern Utah and won 70-51. The one other time they have met was also at home, when the Zags defeated the Thunderbirds, 102-61, in 2011.
SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS
- The Thunderbirds are coming off a 102-60 victory over Benedictine University at Mesa on Nov. 9. - Southern Utah is currently sitting at 2-0 overall as it opened the season with a 76-68 win over the University of Mexico on Nov. 7.
- SUU is led by Tomekia Whitman, who is averaging 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds a game. She has also grabbed two steals and recorded two blocks in the two games she has played in.
- Two other players are averaging in double figures, including Daylani Ballena (15) and Lizzy Williamson (13.5).
- In their first two games, the Thunderbirds have a 25 point margin of victory and is shooing at 46.9 percent from the field. They also have a large rebound margin with 32.5, as the team averages 56.5 rebounds a game while holding their opponents to only 30.
