THE TIP OFF
- The Gonzaga Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season to take on the University of Wyoming Cowgirls. This marks the fourth season in a row that the Zags play Wyoming as GU has a seven game winning streak against the Mountain West team.Â
- The Bulldogs are coming off a 91-38 victory against Southern Utah on Nov. 12. The 53-point win is the second-highest margin of victory in head coach
Lisa Fortier's tenure.
McKayla Williams and
Eliza Hollingsworth both had career-highs in scoring, finishing with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Three other Zags finished with double digits, including
Yvonne Ejim with 16, Brynna Maxwell with 13, and
Kayleigh Truong with 11. Payton Muma also shined off of the bench, finishing with a career-high six points and three steals in just over 12 minutes of play.Â
- The Zags have scored at least 10 three pointers in both of their games.Â
- After this trip, the team travels to the Bahamas to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The field includes Gonzaga, Louisville, Marquette, South Dakota State, Texas, Tennessee, Rutgers, and UCLA. The Bulldogs are set to take on Louisville in the opening round of the tournament.Â

Yvonne Ejim was named the WCC Player of the Week after averaging 19 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in 25 minutes.
- The Zags are receiving votes in the most recent USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
- The Bulldogs were recently picked to win the West Coast Conference. The Zags received nine first-place votes that and totaled 81 points in the poll. The poll is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches, and coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Portland received one first-place votes and was selected to finish second with 71 points, while BYU was voted to finish third with 55 points.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 257-33 (.886) during the last 17 seasons, which includes 16 West Coast Conference regular-season titles and nine WCC Tournament championships.

Yvonne Ejim were also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. Ejim is the reigning WCC Sixth Woman of the Year while also receiving All-WCC Second Team in 2021-22.
Kayleigh Truong earned All-WCC First Team honors after her performance in 2021-22. Â
Kaylynne Truong was named to the WCC Tournament team along with the Rainbow Wahine Showdown MVP as she was ranked third on the team in scoring last year.Â

THE SERIES
SERIES INFO: This marks the fourth season in a row that the Zags take on Wyoming.  Overall, GU has played Wyoming eight times with an overall 7-1 record against the Cowgirls. The lone loss was in 1990 in the Mark IV Classic in Moscow, Idaho.  Â
STREAK: Zags - 7Â Â Â
FIRST MEETING: The Bulldogs first met Wyoming in 1990, in a neutral site at Moscow, Idaho. The Zags lost 69-60, which is the only loss against UW.  Â
LAST MEETING: Last year, GU hosted Wyoming at McCarthey Athletic Center and won 54-47. The Zags currently have a 3-0 record at home and 4-0 on the road against the Cowgirls.Â
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
-Wyoming opened the season with a 67-55 road loss Friday at North Dakota, the Cowgirls' first road contest to begin a season since 2009. Malene Pedersen led the way in the loss to the Fighting Hawks with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor. Pedersen made both of her 3-point and free-throw attempts in the contest while also adding four rebounds and tallied a team-high two steals.
-Grace Ellis had a nice all-around game for the Cowgirls as she opened the season with nine points, six boards and a team-best three assists. Allyson Fertig, who spent most of the game in foul trouble, grabbed 10 rebounds and had nine points in just 14 minutes of action. Tess Barnes led the Cowgirl bench with seven points, five rebounds and a block while Marta Savic added six points and five boards in 12 minutes of action.
-UW looks to continue its tremendous home success, as it has compiled a 20-5 record at home in the last two seasons. Dating back to the 2015-16 season, the Cowgirls have won 10-or-more games at home in all but the Covid-19-shortened season of 2020-21, where UW went 8-2. In the last seven season, Wyoming is 84-23 in the Arena-Auditorium, a .785 winning percentage.
