No. 20/20 WBB Hosts New Mexico on Friday

THE TIPOFF
- The No. 20 Gonzaga women's basketball team returns home for the last non-conference game of the year against New Mexico on Dec. 22. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
- GU is coming off an 81-69 win over Arizona in the Jerry Colangelo Hall of Fame Series. Yvonne Ejim scored 21 of her 27 points in the first half, Brynna Maxwell scored 14 of her 17 in a dominant third quarter.  It was the first meeting between the programs. It was also Gonzaga's fourth matchup against a Pac-12 team this season.
- Five Zags are averaging double digits in scoring including Yvonne Ejim (20.1), Brynna Maxwell (13.8), Kayleigh Truong (13.4), Kaylynne Truong (11.1) and Eliza Hollingsworth (10.8).
- The Zags are 13th in the country in three-point percentage at 39.4 percent. GU's 48.7 field goal percentage also ranks 21st. From the free throw line, GU is 10th with 80.3 percent.
- Kaylynne Truong is sixth in the nation in assists with 81 so far this year along with 19th in the country in assists per game with 6.2. She is ranked third all-time at GU with assists as she just recorded her 500th against Arizona.
- Yvonne Ejim is tied for first in the country with Caitlin Clark in field goals with 124 scored this season. 
- Yvonne Ejim has been named the WCC Player of the Week three times this season. She was also ESPN's Player of the Week and the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week (12/4). 
- Gonzaga is currently on a 25 home game winning streak, which ranks third in the country only behind UNLV (27) and South Carolina (46).
- Kaylynne Truong was one of 20 point guards in the country named to the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list. Brynna Maxwell was also one of 20 shooting guards in the country named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list.
- Yvonne Ejim, Brynna Maxwell and Kaylynne Truong were named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Becky Hammon Player of the Year Award. Gonzaga is the only team with multiple players on the watch list and becomes the first team to ever place three players on a single list.
- Lisa Fortier was recently named to the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award preseason watch list. This year's watch list includes coaches from 16 conferences.
- The Bulldogs were picked to win the West Coast Conference this season by the league's coaches.
- Gonzaga has amassed a conference record of 274-34 (.889) during the last 18 seasons. 
- Last season, GU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth-straight year under Lisa Fortier.

ONLY MEETING: The Zags and Lobos met in 2005 in the Thanksgiving Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Zags lost, 76-54.    

SCOUTING THE LOBOS
- New Mexico is 9-3 on the year as this will be the team's second road game of the season.
- UNM had a season-high four players finish in double figures four times this season. Paula Reus and Aniyah Augmon were involved in all four instances, with Nyah Wilson and Charlotte Kohl in three of the games, with Vianè Cumber and Mackenzie Curtis involved in one game each.
- The first time came in the game against Texas A&M-Commerce, led by a career-high 22 from Wilson. Augmon scored 16, Kohl finished with 16 and Reus added 11. The second time came in the game against Eastern Illinois behind a career-high 25 points from Reus, 21 points for Wilson, 14 points from Cumber and 10 from Augmon. In the game against New Mexico State, Reus and Kohl shared the team high in points at 15 (a career high for Kohl), Wilson scored 13 points and Augmon scored 10 points. In the previous game against Hampton, Reus and Kohl each scored 14 points with Augmon and Curtis scoring 11 apiece.
- UNM also has four players averaging double figures led by Wilson (12.3 ppg) and Reus (12.3 ppg), Cumber (11.3 ppg) and Augmon (11.0 ppg). Kohl is close at 9.6 points per game.
- The Lobos have been led in scoring by five different players (with five games of players sharing the team high) and in rebounds by five different players this season.
