TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sasha Trkulja won in the singles bracket, along with a title in the doubles bracket with
Matthew Hollingworth at the Arizona Wildcat Open.
In the final day, Trkulja and Hollingworth defeated Aram Noroozian and Rafael Abdulsalam from New Mexico, 6-4, to take the title.Â
On the singles side, top-seeded Trkulja won, 6-3, in both sets against Northern Arizona's Dominik Buzonics to win his bracket.
Pablo Gomez Galvan competed in the championship of his bracket as well, but fell 6-3, 7-5, to New Mexico'sÂ
Rafael AbdulSalam.Â
Leon Roider also won his final match of the tournament against NAU"s Morgan Donovan, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
Extra singles matches were also played out in the final day of the tournament. Hollingworth played Georgio Samahea from New Mexico, which went into a tiebreaker battle. Hollingworth lost the first set, 6-4, but came back to win the second set 6-1. He ended up falling in the third set tiebreaker, 10-6.
Tom Dunlop and
Gus Krauel also played extra matches for Gonzaga. Dunlop dropped to NAU's Jakub Prachar, 6-3, 6-2, and Krauel fell to New Mexico's Aram Noroozian, 6-2, 6-3.Â
Two doubles teams also played extra matches on the day. Dunlop and Krauel fell to UNLV 6-2, while Gomez Galvan and Roider dropped to UNLV, 6-3.
