SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team continued their conference schedule by hosting #22 San Diego earlier today. The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, April 14^th, when they play Pepperdine at 12 pm.
 
Opening with the doubles competition, San Diego got off to an excellent start, as Claudia De Las Heras and Jordyn McBride earned a 6-1 court one win over Gonzaga's Kianna Oda and Tiegan Aitken. On courts two and three, both Gonzaga duos initially trailed 1-4 in their doubles matches. In the No.2 spot, Gonzaga's Emily Robertson and Ella Nielsen battled, but fell 6-4 against San Diego's Kailey Evans and Mia Mack.
 
With the Toreros clinching the doubles point, the court three match between Gonzaga's Lia Espinal and Brooke Bittner and San Diego's Filippa BruuSyversen and Abigail Desiatnikov went unfinished, ending with a score of 3-5.
 
In the singles competition, San Diego expanded their lead on court five, as Desiatnikov defeated Bittner by a score of 6-1, 6-0.

On court one, Robertson continued her phenomenal freshman season by claiming a 6-4, 6-2 victory over De Las Heras. Entering the match, De Las Heras was the #55 singles player in the nation.
 
In the No.3 spot, San Diego clinched the team victory when Evans defeated Nielsen by a score of 6-2, 6-2. With the team victory already clinched, all other singles matches went unfinished.
 
Up Next: Following today's match, the Gonzaga women's tennis team will host Pepperdine for Senior Day on Sunday, April 14th, at 12 p.m. The Zags will conclude their regular season next week, as they're scheduled to face San Francisco on April 19th and Santa Clara on April 20th.
