SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Gonzaga men's rowing finished up the first day of the San Diego Crew Classic after two boats claimed victories.
In the Varsity Eight boat, the Zags finished second out of four boats with a time of 6:17.057 which was ahead of USC, and Cal State Long Beach. UCLA took first with a time of 6:14.054 in the heat.
The 2V8 boat finished first in their heat with a time of 6:26.702, just about four seconds ahead of UCLA in second place. The crew also defeated San Diego, Cal, and UC Santa Barbara.Â
In the novice boat, the Bulldogs also finished first over seven other boats with a time of 6:34.123. Orange College Coast took second with a time of 6:40.685 as the Zags also finished ahead of UCLA, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, USC, San Diego State and UC Irvine.
The Zags continue competition tomorrow with the first race at 9:58 a.m. The 2V8 crew races at 10:22 a.m. while the novice boat races at 10:38 a.m.
