BOISE, Ida. – Gonzaga women's tennis was defeated 7-0 by Boise State in a dual-match on Sunday at Boas Indoor Tennis Center, the first loss of the spring season for the Bulldogs.

BSU claimed the doubles point as Rose Hayes/Lia Espinal and Norhan Hesham/Brooke Bittner both dropped their matches 6-1. Emily Robertson/Safien Boulonois were in a battle, trailing 4-5, when the point was clinched.

After Hayes and Hesham each fell in singles, Robertson led her first set 5-1, until BSU's Zdena Safarova stormed back to secure the dual with a 7-6 (4), 6-0 victory. The teams continued playing, with Boulonois and Bittner each coming up short in two sets.

The final singles match was the tightest, as Ella Nielsen won the first frame 6-3. After her opponent took the second set 7-5, Nielsen was unable to prevail in a super tiebreaker, falling 11-9.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs will travel again next weekend to New Mexico State (Jan. 31), and New Mexico (Feb. 2), before returning to the Stevens Center to clash with Air Force (Feb. 8) and UW (Feb. 9). Live stats and video for all matches will be available at GoZags.com.
