PULLMAN, Wash. – The Gonzaga men's rowing team turned in a strong start to the fall season, posting competitive times across multiple boats against Washington State on Saturday.
The Zags' Varsity 8 set the tone early, winning its race with a time of 17:54.7, finishing nearly 20 seconds ahead of WSU's top crew (18:13.3). Gonzaga's 2V8 also impressed, clocking 18:26.9 to edge out WSU's entry (19:00.8). In novice racing, the Bulldogs' 1N8 posted a time of 23:10.1, finishing ahead of WSU (24:18.1).
"Solid first time out. We need to handle conditions a bit better but good effort," said head coach Dan Gehn.
The Zags' depth and early-season speed were on display throughout the day as multiple boats opened their fall campaign with strong performances on the Snake River.
