SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Gonzaga University fell to the University of San Diego 1-0 on Sunday at Torero Stadium, with the home team securing the victory with a second-half goal.

The match between the Bulldogs and San Diego began with both teams displaying a strong defensive stance. Gonzaga's Chema Preciado made a crucial save in the 11th minute, stopping a shot from San Diego's Cesar Bahena to keep the game level. Despite multiple offensive pushes from San Diego, GU's defense held firm throughout the period.

The first half concluded with a scoreless draw, as neither side could capitalize on their opportunities. The Zags' efforts to break through San Diego's defense were met with resistance, and the teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

The second half began with San Diego applying early pressure, but Gonzaga remained resilient on defense. Ian Silva and Damoni McKenna-Greenawalt managed shots that pressured San Diego's backline, though neither found the net. As the period progressed, Iain Wagner scored for San Diego in the 57th minute, assisted by Devin Zachry and Taj Eagleston, placing the Bulldogs in a trailing position.
