Zag Volleyball Adds Claire Wagstaff

SPOKANE, Wash- Head Coach JT Wenger announced the addition of another member to Zag Volleyball, adding Claire Wagstaff as an experienced Outside and Opposite hitter.

Wagstaff joins the Zags after playing the past two seasons at Wyoming. She appeared in 34 matches, putting up 258 kills and 100 blocks, averaging 2.31 points per set. She had double digit kills in 12 matches during her in Laramie. She has had 13 matches where she had at least four blocks, including a career high nine blocks in one match against Nevada.

"We are fired up to bring Claire into the GU volleyball program!" Wenger said on Tuesday. "Claire brings two years of collegiate experience against future Pac-12 foes.  Clare has great offensive range and mixes in a variety of shots.  As a blocker, she takes information well and puts herself in good spots to block balls."

A part of a Wyoming team that competed in the Mountain West, Wagstaff played against five teams that will be conference opponents for the first time when Gonzaga moves to the PAC-12 next year. Wyoming finished in the top 100 in the NCAA RPI both seasons she was on the roster.

Wagstaff was a three sport athlete in high school before focusing on volleyball in her collegiate career, also playing on the varsity teams for soccer and basketball. She comes from an athletic family, as her mother Janie was an Olympic swimmer and won a gold medal as a member of the 4x100 meter medley relay team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
