SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis was downed 7-0 by Washington on Sunday at the Stevens Center.

Emily Robertson/Safien Boulonois and Norhan Hesham/Ella Nielsen were defeated in doubles as the Huskies claimed the point.

Moving to singles, UW clinched the overall match with wins over Hesham (6-2, 6-0), Nielsen (6-1, 6-0), and Boulonois (6-1, 6-3). The teams kept playing, with Lia Espinal falling 6-2, 6-4 and Robertson succumbing, 6-4, 6-3.

In the final bout of the dual, Rose Hayes won her first set 6-4 and dropped the second frame 6-1. Since the Huskies had already clinched the overall match, Hayes and UW's Reece Carter played a super tiebreaker in place of a third set. Carter was able to survive the deciding frame 10-8.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs are off for a weekend, then travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., facing Cal Poly (Feb. 21) and Grand Canyon (Feb. 22).

MATCH NOTES
- GU women's tennis is now 5-2 this dual season, with wins over Michigan State, Eastern Washington, New Mexico State, New Mexico, and Air Force.
- This is the first home loss for the Bulldogs, who are now 3-1 at the Stevens Center.
- UW is now 3-1 this season, with their sole loss coming in a 4-0 sweep at UCLA.
